SUCCESSFUL FINISH FOR FIRST BIOFACH IN TOKYO
The first BioFach Japan in Tokyo finished on an extremely successful note on 15 December with 13,769 visitors registered at the three-day event. The first two days, on which admission was restricted to trade only, attracted as many as 9,300 experts looking for information about organic food and natural products on the stands of the 184 exhibitors from 22 countries. Parliamentary Secretary of State Matthias Berninger took part in the opening of BioFach Japan as German government representative. The organizer of BioFach Japan is Nürnberg Global Fairs, a subsidiary of NürnbergMesse.
The Japanese organic market is growing into the third largest in the world. Only the USA and Europe are ahead of Japan in a market that according to Organic Monitor amounts to some 26 billion US dollars for 2001. The London market researchers already forecast a global turnover of just under 80 billion US dollars for 2008 based on conservative calculations.
